Katamath borrows a concept ‘kata’ from Japanese martial arts to train users in math. Complex mathematical problems are broken down into elemental bits and users build mastery of each single skill individually. Spaced repetition and daily block practice ensure maximum retention and building motivation day by day.
An essay series building the tools to imagine the future from lived experience: the LED Test, the budgeter’s stance, the housewife as an epistemic position. Most futurism fails on contact with rent, care work, and a Tuesday evening. Future Domestic applies rigorous critique to identify the trends and technologies that have a fighting chance.
I work with fibre, scraps, and found objects to challenge how we assign value to materials. Our world produces endless stuff — plastics, textiles, packaging — designed to be beautiful only when it's new, untouched, and whole.
My practice rejects that idea. I treat leftovers as living matter with history and potential. I improvise with what's at hand, following the material instead of forcing a perfect plan. Chance, repair, and reconfiguration become part of the work.
In a culture obsessed with the new, I'm interested in the futures we can build by mending, adapting, and reconfiguring. These pieces point toward a design logic that values resilience over perfection, and cares for the materials already in circulation.
Making becomes a form of repair — of both objects and the systems that forget them.
